The recipe for disaster is transmitted from one generation to another, on maternal descent. You need a neurotic wife, an egocentristic mother and a repressed daughter. You take one part mother’s birthday party, three parts frustration from inability to execute what is expected of the characters, and you sprinkle tense family moments on top. In the end, you mix everything against Carmen.
